Re: Coming soon...

I am currently on only my 3rd intraday trade.
First was a bust. ummmm forgot to set a stop. (oops!.. still own it) Second was breakeven. (better) Third one the charm? "We'll see" said the blind man.
In any case after having been through your book Techniques of Tape Reading twice now I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming online course.
This is all such fun and I am so addicted. heheh..

Re: PMI Gold

This blog is worth it's weight in Gold. (PMI Gold.. as I chose to take my shares off the table this morning.)
And it's all done for free!
Speaking as a member of the amateur, long only and retired "mom and pop" group, how can we ever repay Bill and his crew for what they do for us? Incredible gift.
(I would happily pay a subscription fee just to help return the favors.)

Re: Rubicon Minerals

"Ruby" has been a good little racehorse for me, my nephew and my daughter.
Jump on, jump off, jump on, jump off. (recent current prices have been "jump on")
I just received Vad's "techniques of tape reading" so hopefully we can fine tune our on-and-off timing a little better in the months to come.

Re: Bank of America: Padding Profits by Sticking It to Consumers

What am I missing?

Politicians doing what politicians do best, taking every essentially inconsequential opportunity to publicly demonstrate that they are actually "doing something" favorable for us.

Little Al's analysts...maybe just a little conflict of interest?

Interview of Alfredlittle.com from Investor's Business Daily http://tinyurl.com/633y88e

Alfredlittle.com (editor Simon Moore) says it uses local analysts. They are said to comb public documents in Chinese. They also pose as customers and carry out video surveillance...
Alfredlittle.com doesn't hide the fact that researchers profit from their data, including short selling the companies probed.
"The reports are the product of many people's labor and they justly deserve to profit," Moore said.

"They carpet-bomb the company with allegations all over the place," said Mitchell Nussbaum, chair of New York law firm Loeb & Loeb's emerging-markets practice, which represents Chinese firms in the U.S. Nussbaum says if some claims haven't been disproven it's because SEC findings or independent probes are pending.

Re: alfredlittle.com

After going to "Little Al's" website I'm feeling a whole lot better about increasing my shares of SVM today. This thing smells totally of "amateur" blog newsletter writing.
And this is what took down Silvercorp?
Unbelievable.

The last sentence of their "Complete Report" to download was the "tell" and I do indeed believe him when Little Al says: "We seek only to profit from the truth."
Me too Little Al.. that's why (like you?) I bought SVM today.

Re: Get Well Bill

As I've aged I've recognized the need to slow down ..or I will be slowed down by other forces at work on this aging body of mine. (don't like it but that's the way it is.)
Everyone is different of course.

Sending wishes for a quick snap-back and renewal of energies to you.

"This morning the Bearded One..

"This morning the Bearded One signaled the Fed was ready, willing, and able to continue monetary accommodation if the need arises down the road."

My deep concern is what we are NOT seeing here with this latest "chess move". They have a plan and they are not tellin'. What is it?

I, for one will proceed with caution in jumping onto any obvious trains.
However, admittedly it does feel good to be finally in the green with UXG and just about break-even with Ruby. ;-)

No fading into the background! Please! As a rookie investor/trader I have to speak up and say that your work, your perspectives, your great charts have all become important to my own learning curve.

US Gold: What's in a recognized name brand?

In my opinion it can be a lot. Company stats aside, the name of "US Gold" is so... "USA". Big, Successful, Enduring.
McEwen Mining is just another mining company among hundreds of other mining companies. (yawn)
I'm a big Rob fan but I feel this name change will have a overall negative impact on attracting attention and more investment capital.

Just my 2 pennies worth of comment on the impending name change.

Re: Changing the WIR

As someone who is an unsophisticated investor, retired, middle 60s and noticeably slowing down, been doing this investing thing for only 3 years and who sits squarely in the middle of the "mom and pop" category using a portion of our nest egg, I'll just toss in my two cents.

First of all to say that I've hitched-my-wagon to this blog and Bill is the lead horse. I try mightily to learn from him and others here and I dare-say also try to read between the lines for certain securities to buy. There are others here who occasionally name-drop a company and if the company mentioned meets my criteria (low or zero debt being a principle filter) I sometimes buy shares. Even though that is not the aim of this blog and is probably causing Bill to flinch at that, I would venture to say that others such as myself do the same.
It's not a perfect system for stock picking (I'm still way underwater with Kinross at 18 ;-O), but what system is?
So far, my lead horse and others here have increased my overall position by over 24% (on track to double my portfolio's worth in 3 years) so taken altogether, SOMETHING is working for me directly because of this blog. If it wasn't for this community I probably would still be watching "Fast Money" and The Nightly Business report and letting them and their guests lead me around by the nose as my wallet was being slowly picked off.
As mentioned, I am not a sophisticated investor but I do read absolutely everything during the week with the hope that so much of this often mysterious information that you all write is lodging itself into my unconscious and will urge me when and what to buy and when and what to sell.
BTW, I truly appreciate it when Kaimu and others speak down on my level and in plain and unsophisticated terms where it actually makes sense to me... and thus like a grade schooler I delightfully shout "I get it!, I get it!".
Bottom line is, again taken altogether, it's working for people such as myself. (knock wood)

WIR: There is a goodly amount of information I just don't grasp and the truth is at this point in my life, it's doubtful that I ever will "get it". The learning curve can be steep, my mind doesn't absorb and retain as well as it used to and the fact is my clock is winding down. I'm not becoming more sophisticated, I'm becoming less. The KISS philosophy works for me.
Feeling this, I quickly scroll through all the charts and various sector news without so much as a glance. It's too much information for me and thus I don't really care about it. (I certainly do appreciate all of Bill's work for those who do study them)

BUT.. there are three parts of the WIR that are of prime importance to me and I read and re-read them for general direction and Bill's overview from the high perch he sits upon.
The first part.. the wrap-up.. and the junior miners, for that is where my money is and will continue to be. If there was to be any expansion of the WIR, at least for me it would be here, in these three categories.

Thanks again and again to Bill and to all of you.

Quebec clears way to north's resources

FT
Posted: 10 May 2011 10:23

Quebec has unveiled plans to open up a vast northern region, twice the size of France, to mining, energy and forestry investment. The province's premier, JEAN CHAREST, said Quebec was seeking to benefit from emerging economies' burgeoning demand for raw materials. Major deposits of iron ore, nickel, gold, uranium and diamonds have already been identified. The first phase of the project, known as Plan Nord, includes a campaign to attract foreign investors. The region's annual iron ore output could grow from the current 40mt to 100mt, according to analysts. Quebec has also undertaken to develop 3 500MW of renewable energy at an estimated cost of C$25bn. The bulk will be hydroelectric projects built by HYDRO-QUEBEC. The government will contribute C$2.1bn to the first phase of the 25-year plan, of which about half will be earmarked for roads, ports and other transport infrastructure. This news brief represents a summary of the original article.

Re: To those cynics who do not believe the bin Laden story

Credibility is a precious thing to lose and we've all been lied to by so many people in power so many times through main stream media that I am never quick to believe anything anymore that I read or hear on TV. (except reading Bill that is! ;-)
Personally I think this mass murderer has been dead since Bush's first term when up-to-date videos of him ceased coming forth.
At this point it seems to me to make not a lot of difference one way or the other. A chapter in our history is officially closed.

Re: Silver is getting dangerous (too dangerous for me!)

I'm with you Ballena.. whacked with fear on that last gold spike a few days ago (like whack-a-mole and I'm the mole) of losing seriously good gains in both silver and gold, I jumped off Rob McEwen and Sprott's runaway LOCOmotives. When my "angels" tell me to JUMP, I jump. (visualize The Hybrid in BattleStar Gallactica, some will know what I'm talking about).
The train may now move on without me. Anxiety gone.

WIR on a personal note

Great photo, Bill!

Even though so many of us here in the Cara Community have never met you nor ever will meet you, your personal writings and obvious care for others have endeared you to so many of us out here in our web-connected world.
Or as Paul McCartney once wrote "And, in the end, the love you take/ Is equal to the love you make."

However, taking the break you spoke of is not an end and we certainly all wish for you stay vertical for you and your family's sake.

Thank you again for all that you do. It truly is astounding and I daresay it's made a difference that stretches out in helpful ways to other loving families that I suspect even you cannot begin to imagine.
